This call aims to contribute to the EU’s Green Deal, climate targets for 2030 and 2050, and the bioeconomy strategy. It focuses on operationalising bioeconomy sustainability principles for food and other bio-based value chains, considering different environmental, social, and economic contexts. Proposals should improve knowledge on biomass use, social sustainability, and the impacts of bioeconomy on ecosystems, offering solutions to protect and restore them. Successful projects will address sustainability assessments of bio-based and food value chains, promote regional bioeconomy ecosystems, and propose solutions for bioeconomy deployment challenges. The call also encourages international cooperation, especially with the United States and Latin America, and integration of Social Sciences and Humanities disciplines, including gender studies. It supports synergies with other EU funding instruments and Horizon Europe projects.
