Preparing demonstration missions for collaborative Earth Observation and Satellite telecommunication for Space solutions

This call, part of the SPACE 2025 program, focuses on mid to high TRL advancements in Earth Observation (EO) and Satellite Communication (SatCom). It seeks innovative solutions to enhance the competitiveness of the EU's space sector through digitalization, leveraging technologies such as AI, machine learning, and data processing. Projects should address End-to-End mission capabilities, on-board processing, and synergetic technologies with emphasis on European non-dependence. Collaboration between industry, SMEs, academia, and research institutes is encouraged to foster innovation and commercial applications, with a target TRL of 7-8 by project completion.

Expected Outcome

• Maintain a significant share of the global connectivity market through advanced satellite networks.
• Enable new commercial services through digitalization of space solutions.
• Develop advanced EO payloads and technologies for improved data resolution, timeliness, and resilience.

Scope

• R&I on End-to-End SatCom Mission capabilities including satellite network interconnectivity, 5G/6G compatibility, and energy-efficient connectivity.
• Advancements in EO performance through onboard processing, AI-driven image and data processing, and enhanced data flow standardization.
• Development of synergetic technologies and processes for both EO and SatCom systems such as enhanced system security, resources optimization, and flexible downlink capabilities.
