Quantum Technologies: QuantERA’s 5th Call for proposals

Description

The QuantERA III Consortium announces a new Call for international research projects in Quantum Technologies – QuantERA Call 2025.

Through this Call, the QuantERA Consortium seeks to boost cross-border collaboration and accelerate breakthrough research and cutting-edge engineering in quantum technologies, with funding from QuantERA partners and contribution from the European Commission.

All projects aligned with one of the two Call 2025 topics are expected to address one or more of the following areas:

  • Quantum communication
  • Quantum computing
  • Quantum simulation
  • Quantum sensing and metrology
  • General quantum science

Funding: ca. €53M

Important Dates

  • Call Opening: 4 September 2025
  • Deadline for proposals submission: 5 December 2025, 17.00 CET
  • Webinar: 8 October 2025
    • An online webinar will be hosted by the QuantERA Coordinator and the Call Secretariat, aiming to answer the questions related to the call. Please note that the webinar will be recorded. Registration to the event is required – the registration form will be available soon.
  • Notification of accepted proposals: May 2026.
  • Project start: June–September 2026.
  • Project duration: 24 or 36 months

 

Application and evaluation procedure

The Call follows a one-stage submission and evaluation procedure.

The Project Coordinator (PC) prepares a joint proposal for the whole project consortium, using the templates available on the QuantERA website. The two forms (proposal form and financial form) composing the proposal are submitted via theElectronic Submission System (ESS), which will be available in late September.

Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czechia, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Türkiye, United Kingdom.

Eligible Types of Businesses / Organisations

Eligibility depends on national rules (see call document). Generally includes:

  • Research organisations (universities, institutes).
  • SMEs and companies (more prominent under AQS).
  • Public institutions (varies per country).
  • In some countries, industry participation is compulsory.

Partner Search Tool

In order to facilitate the process of forming research consortia, we offer applicants a Partner Search Tool available HERE. This tool can be used by projects looking for partners and partners looking for projects.

Expected Outcome

Researchers are invited to apply for funding in one of two topics:

  • Quantum Phenomena and Resources (QPR) – with the goal of laying the foundations for the QT of the future;
  • Applied Quantum Science (AQS) – aimed at leveraging established quantum effects and concepts from quantum science, translating them into technological applications and developing new products.
