This call, under the Horizon Europe Programme's Processes4Planet Partnership, seeks Research and Innovation Actions (RIA) aimed at developing novel processing technologies and materials that minimize health, safety, and environmental impacts beyond CO₂ emissions. The focus is on reducing the use of hazardous substances in production processes, preventing their proliferation into products, and addressing emerging pollutants not regulated at the EU level. Projects should also aim to reduce occupational exposure risks, empower employees, and develop methods for monitoring less-known pollutants in industrial emissions. Proposals are expected to include techno-economic and life-cycle assessments, build on existing standards or contribute to standardization, and consider interoperability for data sharing. Collaboration with existing projects and synergies with other European, national, or regional initiatives are encouraged. International cooperation is also promoted.
Opening: 22 May 2025
Deadline(s): 23 Sep 2025
Expected Outcome
- Novel processing technologies and materials with reduced health, safety, and environmental impacts.
- Reduced use of hazardous substances in production processes and products.
- Increased knowledge of industrial emissions, particularly emerging pollutants not regulated at the EU level.
- Reduced occupational exposure risks and negative health impacts, empowering employees.
Scope
- Developing processing technologies that reduce health, safety, and environmental impacts beyond CO₂ emissions.
- Demonstrating the reduction of hazardous substances in production processes and products.
- Minimizing adverse effects on material function, durability, recyclability, production cost, and associated risks.
- Involving relevant actors in a participatory approach to reduce workplace health risks.
- Developing sampling and monitoring methods for emerging pollutants in emissions.
