This call focuses on enhancing the security of post-quantum cryptographic primitives, addressing potential vulnerabilities, and boosting confidence in post-quantum cryptosystems. It encourages breakthroughs in understanding the quantum hardness of mathematical problems that underpin cryptographic systems and the development of quantum algorithms with significant speed-ups. AI-driven methods to uncover vulnerabilities in cryptographic schemes are also a priority. Proposals should prioritize the security of lattice-based and code-based post-quantum cryptography, although other mathematical problem classes are not excluded. Collaboration between experts in post-quantum cryptography and quantum computing is highly encouraged.
Projects will focus on assessing the quantum security of cryptosystems, with studies aimed at discovering vulnerabilities, suggesting robust cryptographic parameters, and improving resistance against quantum and AI-based attacks. Eligible entities must be based in EU Member States or Associated Countries, ensuring the protection of the EU's strategic interests and autonomy.
