Overall Description
SMART Call 10 supports international, industry-driven and close-to-market R&D&I projects in advanced manufacturing. Projects should combine organisations from different Eureka countries to develop innovative manufacturing technologies, products, processes, services or business models with strong commercial potential.
The call follows a bottom-up approach within the priorities of the SMART Technology Roadmap. Funding is decentralised and awarded separately by participating national authorities.
Funding Amount
Funding is awarded independently by national authorities under their respective programmes.
- SMART participation fee: Publicly funded participants are charged 1.5% of their final eligible project budget.
- National funding may take the form of grants, loans or grant-and-loan combinations.
Examples of published national funding conditions include:
- Austria: SMEs up to 50%–60%; large companies up to 40% grant or a funding mix; research organisations up to 50%.
- Belgium – Wallonia: Small companies up to 80%, medium-sized companies up to 75%, large companies up to 65%.
- Canada: SMEs up to 50%.
- Finland: Small companies up to 50%, medium-sized and large companies up to 40%, research organisations up to 80%.
- France: Loan financing up to €3 million per project; start-ups up to 80% and SMEs up to 60%.
- Hungary: HUF 20–70 million; rates generally up to 60%–80% for SMEs.
- Ireland: Companies up to 15%–60%; research organisations up to 100%, capped at €250,000 per organisation.
- Latvia: Up to €100,000 per participant annually.
- Lithuania: Up to €300,000 per project.
- Poland: Up to PLN 1 million for one Polish applicant or PLN 2 million for a Polish consortium.
- South Africa: Up to €300,000 per project and up to 50% of eligible costs.
- South Korea: Up to KRW 500 million annually and KRW 1.5 billion over three years.
- Sweden: Up to SEK 15 million per project.
- Türkiye: SMEs up to 75%; large companies up to 60%.
- United Kingdom: Small companies up to 70%, medium-sized companies up to 60%, large companies up to 50%, research organisations up to 30%.
Funding conditions for several countries are still being confirmed.
Submission Deadlines
- Call opening: 1 July 2026.
- SMART Proposers’ Day: 8 October 2026, Vienna.
- Project Outline deadline: 26 January 2027 at 11:00 CET.
- Invitation to submit Full Project Proposal: 12 March 2027.
- Full Project Proposal deadline: 15 April 2027 at 11:00 CEST.
- SMART Label decisions: 2 June 2027.
National funding deadlines may differ.
Submission Conditions
- Applications normally follow a two-stage procedure:
- Mandatory Project Outline of approximately 10–12 pages.
- Full Project Proposal following invitation.
- Applications are submitted through the Cluster Projects Tool.
- The consortium must include at least two industrial companies from two different participating Eureka countries.
- Consortium members must be independent legal entities.
- The project must have a civilian purpose.
- Projects must be technically innovative, industry-driven and strongly market-oriented.
- The project and consortium budgets must be appropriately balanced.
- No individual participant may account for 70% or more of the total project budget.
- No single country may account for 70% or more of the total project budget.
- Partners should contact their national funding authorities before submitting.
- National funding applications must be submitted separately according to the relevant national procedures.
- Receiving the SMART Label is necessary for national support but does not guarantee funding.
- Each national authority independently evaluates and funds its applicants.
- A consortium agreement addressing intellectual property, exploitation and partner responsibilities is normally required before project implementation.
Eligible Types of Businesses and Organisations
Subject to national funding rules, eligible participants include:
- Start-ups.
- Small and medium-sized enterprises.
- Mid-cap companies.
- Large industrial companies.
- Research and technology organisations.
- Universities and higher-education institutions.
- Public and private research institutes.
- Technology providers and manufacturing-service organisations.
Industrial companies must form the core of the consortium. Research organisations may be directly funded, participate as partners or work as subcontractors, depending on national rules.

The list of countries offering national funding remains indicative. Organisations from other Eureka countries may participate if they obtain national funding or finance their participation independently.

- Improve collaboration between people and manufacturing technologies.
- Deliver new applied knowledge and address technical risks.
- Generate commercially exploitable products, processes or services.
- Establish realistic market-entry and commercialisation plans.
- Create clear added value through international cooperation.
