This funding call supports bilateral research and development (R&D) projects between Germany and India under the framework of the Indo-German Science and Technology Centre (IGSTC). The measure is part of the German Federal Government’s Strategy for the Internationalization of Science and Research and focuses on the topic of 'New Materials and Substances'.

Projects must follow the 2+2 principle, involving at least one research institution and one company from both countries. The focus lies on applied research that leads to innovation and commercialization. The four thematic priorities include materials for renewable energy, sensors, sustainable and resilient buildings, and alternative energy storage systems. All partners must demonstrate added value through collaboration and the potential for sustainable partnership.

Eligible applicants include SMEs, large companies, universities, and research institutions. German partners may receive up to 500,000 Euro per project, with a standard duration of 36 months. An optional extension phase of 24 months may be granted. Projects should ideally start at TRL 3–4. Open Access publication and data sharing are encouraged. Proposals must be submitted via the IGSTC online tool.
