Tackling gender-based violence in different social and economic sphere

This Horizon Europe call focuses on addressing gender-based violence (GBV) across various social and economic contexts, including the workplace, sports, and online platforms. The research aims to fill knowledge gaps, improve data collection, and develop actionable insights to prevent GBV and enhance victim support. Proposals should assess GBV's prevalence and impact, consider intersecting factors like socio-economic background and gender identity, and explore the role of technology in facilitating or combating GBV.

Expected Outcome

  • Data and analysis: Comprehensive data on GBV prevalence, including tech-facilitated forms, across different socio-economic contexts.

  • Stakeholder support: Tools for employers, practitioners, and civil society to improve prevention, protection, and prosecution efforts.
  • Education and best practices: Promote sharing of best practices, mutual learning, and education on consent and GBV.

Scope

  • Investigate the prevalence and impact of GBV across areas such as:
    • Workplace: Explore exposure in sectors like healthcare, education, transport, and night work.
    • Sports: Address gaps in pan-European data on sexual harassment in sports.
    • Online platforms: Study tech-facilitated GBV, including non-consensual image sharing and AI-generated abuses.
  • Consider both online and offline forms of GBV.
  • Address intersecting factors (e.g., age, disability, socio-economic background, ethnicity, gender identity).
  • Assess the effectiveness of bystander roles, superior interventions, and victim support systems.
  • Develop surveys and utilize administrative data to analyze public service responses and foster safe environments.
  • Involve law enforcement, social partners, and academia to optimize insights and implementation.
