Overall Description

Xecs Call 6 supports international, industry-driven R&D and innovation projects in electronic components and systems (ECS). Projects should develop innovative, application-oriented products, processes or services covering essential parts of the ECS value chain.

Relevant fields range from micro- and nanoelectronics and smart electronic-system integration to embedded systems, cyber-physical systems and complex systems-of-systems. Proposals should align with the Electronic Components and Systems Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (ECS-SRIA).

Funding Amount

Funding is provided independently by participating national and regional authorities. There is no common Xecs grant amount or funding rate, and the total call budget is not specified.

Examples of published national conditions include:

• Austria: SMEs up to 50%–60%; large companies up to 40% grant or a grant-and-loan combination; research organisations up to 50%.
• Belgium – Wallonia: Small companies up to 80%, medium-sized companies up to 75%, large companies up to 65%.
• Canada: SMEs up to 50%.
• Finland: Small companies up to 50%, medium-sized and large companies up to 40%, research organisations up to 80%.
• France: Up to €3 million per project as a loan; start-ups up to 80% and SMEs up to 60%.
• Hungary: HUF 20–70 million; rates generally 25%–80%, with up to 100% for eligible basic or non-economic research.
• Ireland: Companies up to 15%–60%; research organisations up to 100%, capped at €250,000 per organisation.
• Latvia: Up to €100,000 per participant annually; rates up to 65%–80% for companies and 100% for research organisations.
• Lithuania: Up to €300,000 per project.
• Netherlands: Up to €4 million per project.
• Poland: Up to PLN 1 million for a single Polish applicant or PLN 2 million for a Polish domestic consortium.
• South Africa: Up to €300,000 per project and up to 50% of eligible costs.
• Türkiye: SMEs up to 75%; large companies up to 60%.
• United Kingdom: Small companies up to 70%, medium-sized companies up to 60%, large companies up to 50%, research organisations up to 30%.

Funding information for some participating countries and regions remains subject to confirmation. Applicants must consult their national funding authority before applying.

Submission Deadlines

• Call opening: 23 June 2026.
• Matchmaking event: 6–7 October 2026, Vienna.
• Project Outline deadline: 21 January 2027 at 17:00 CET.
• Full Project Proposal deadline: 15 April 2027.
• Xecs labelling decision: Expected in June 2027.
• Expected project start: From September 2027.

Submission Conditions

• Applications follow a two-stage procedure:
  1. Project Outline.
  2. Full Project Proposal following successful progression.
• The consortium must contain at least two independent legal entities from two Eureka countries participating in the call.
• Participation from at least three countries is recommended.
• The consortium must cover an essential part of the ECS value chain.
• Projects must be industry-driven, technically innovative and application-oriented.
• The project should involve at least 35 person-years of work.
• The project must develop an innovative product, process or service.
• Projects must have a civilian purpose.
• Partners and budgets must be appropriately balanced.
• No individual organisation or single-country consortium may account for more than 70% of the total project budget.
• Applicants must submit through the Xecs application system.
• National funding applications may also be required before, alongside or after the Xecs submission.
• Receiving the Xecs label does not automatically guarantee national funding.
• Applicants should contact their national funding authority before submitting.
• A consortium agreement covering intellectual property, exploitation and partner responsibilities is normally required before project commencement.

Eligible Types of Businesses and Organisations

Subject to national rules, eligible participants include:

• Start-ups.
• Small and medium-sized enterprises.
• Mid-cap companies.
• Large companies.
• Research and technology organisations.
• Universities and higher-education institutions.
• Public or private research institutes.
• Other legal entities contributing essential ECS expertise.

Funding eligibility varies by country. In some countries, universities and research organisations may participate only as subcontractors or alongside an eligible company.
