Dracula Technologies has unveiled LAYER®Vault, a pioneering technology that combines low-light Organic Photovoltaic (OPV) energy harvesting and electrical storage on a single flexible film. Presented at CES in Las Vegas, this groundbreaking solution aims to revolutionize the electronics industry by providing an eco-friendly and cost-effective alternative to traditional batteries.
With a record-breaking 31% power conversion efficiency, LAYER®Vault offers sustainability and energy autonomy for IoT and ultra-low-power products, reducing the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) for device makers and integrators. Dracula Technologies, with its new Green MicroPower Factory in Europe, aims to produce up to 150 million cm² of OPV devices annually. The patented LAYER®Vault, supported by funding from Narodowe Centrum Badań i Rozwoju, complements existing OPV harvesting products, transforming into a 2-in-1 solution with ambient light harvesting and energy storage.
Designed for ultra-low-power devices, it efficiently powers LPWAN devices in sectors such as Electronic Shelf Labels, Smart Building, Smart Asset Tracking, and Smart Home. The innovative technology aligns with EnABLES’ mission to enhance IoT device power source lifespan, addressing environmental concerns associated with battery disposal.
