Result description
RHP produces parts in a batch based process based on a high deposition rate process for large near net shape metal parts. PMD (plasma metal depoition) reduces the production time of parts by a factor of up to 8 compared to usual single part production in DED processes. Multiple parts can be done on the same platform with a size of 1.5 m x 2 m. Parts from 17-4PH have been produced, but RHP is able to process various metalls as Fe, Ni, Ti or Al based alloys.

R&D, Technology and Innovation aspects
RHP has shown, that batch processing with PMD is a enabler for more efficient production. Especially software development for toolpath generation is in progress to take the needs of batch processing into account for PMS (DED) processes.
RHP runs different machines based on this technology to keep flexibility for customers. Raw materials may be water atomised powder, gas atomised powders or wire to keep indepedency from raw matrial providers. RHP has a strong links to equipment manufacturers and software developers and is developing own equipment components.
Based on customer need RHP is able to document the process ( parameters, weld pool camera, … ) to prove a reliable product at any time.
High deposition rate additive manufacturing of large parts is facing the reduction of raw material consumption and consumption of consumables to enhance sustainability.
