Result description
  1. PFOA/PFOS biosensor: A biosensor able to detect PFOA and PFOS in seawater. The PFOS/PFOA biosensor is particularly valuable for near the coast measurements (for example near ports or aquaculture sites).
  2. Naphthalene biosensor: A biosensor able to detect Naphthalene in seawater. The sensor developed is sensitive enough to allow monitoring the target pollutant, following regulatory requirements. 
  3. Heavy metals biosensor: The heavy metal biosensor was tested for its ability to quantify various metal ions in seawater. The MariaBox generic heavy metals biosensor can be used as a generic early warning system with respect to the increased presence of heavy metals (monitoring of protected marine parks).
  4. Saxitoxin biosensor: A biosensor for Saxitoxin. All MariaBox biosensors for algae toxins are a significant advancement of the state-of-the-art, since currently these toxins are not measured directly in water, but, usually, in shellfish flesh
  5. Microcystin biosensor: A biosensor for Microcystin
  6. Azaspiracid biosensor: A biosensor for Azaspiracid
  7. Domoic Acid biosensor: A biosensor for Domoic Acid

Validations have been made in relevant environment (sea-water), but real-world validations were limited. Thus, more validations in the sea are required. Optimisation of the sensors is also required, in view of specific applications.
