RVC developed a method for the manufacturing and supply of polymers at GMO-grade, supporting scalability and compliance with regulatory standards.
Chitosan is a natural biodegradable compound isolated from surplus shrimp shells that has been used as nutritional supplement for humans for more than thirty years. Chitosan is mixed into feed and then fed to piglets.

Product development discussions are ongoing with RVC’s spin-out company, Tecrea Ltd. and further collaborations with feed companies will be explored to support future industrial use. Additional further use pathways are being considered, including national or international funding schemes to advance the technology toward market readiness.
