The basic functionalities were tested on four different EU logistics operators: Greece (ELTA), Slovenia (Posta Slovenije), Croatia (Hrvatska Pošta), and Turkey-Italy-Poland (EKOL). The final solution is implemented in a real business environment at Pošta Slovenije, where the prototype version of Cognitive advisor is deployed. The current stage of technology is therefore TRL7-8 with system prototype active in operational infrastructure. The future plan is to prepare interfaces, clients and business process flow for scaling the functionalities on the national level and cross border logistics delivery. Prepare the product for final scaled implementation and marketing (TRL9+). 

The Architecture of Cognitive Adviser is designed in modular way, both the implementation/component level, as at the level of algorithm design. There is no licenced components included and all the solutions are based on open-source technologies. The algorithms are designed to instantiate new scalable instances, enabling both horizontal scalability (adding new use cases) and vertical scalability (size of infrastructure and number of users). The system is designed to operate on the size of complete logistics system of EU where size of the network increases merely on potentially increasing cloud infrastructure for running the system. The system can scale in terms of number of applications/ use case to be supported, in terms of the size of the infrastructure to be managed and in terms of the number of users to be included.

The system enables to integrate to heterogeneous data sources, and can operate on various infrastructure, supporting ubiquitous use cases in the domain field. The core problem that cognitive adviser solves is general to all the logistics infrastructure: processing new delivery request, adapting existing deliveries schedules, based-on events in infrastructure. This “core” use case is replicable in every logistics system. 

The Cognitive Adviser solves a very fundamental problem in logistics: optimization of costs per parcel/object delivered. While decreasing the time to deliver, decreasing the total distance travelled for delivery of same packets, the operational costs for logistics operator decrease. This translates directly into saving for logistics operator and is the main KPI for sustainable business model implementation for Cognitive Adviser. Consequently, It has a very positive environmental impact as the total miles travelled for same deliver decrease and therefore CO2.
