The tool lets the user define an arbitrary cooling system, and the planning tool assesses the benefits of DC compared to building specific cooling systems.

Different alternatives can be investigated and compared, and a feasible solution identified. The assessment is carried out in economic, energy efficiency and emissions point of views.

The DC planning tool has already been piloted in different sites during the project.

The planning tool enables carrying out robust analysis very quickly, and with reasonable accuracy – and puts the user in control. The main alternative solution would be a feasibility study by a consultant company, a potentially expensive option.Similar tools do exist (e.g. EnergyPro, EnergyPLAN, HOMER) as well, but their approach is more detailed, technical, and complicated.
