Result description
Most batteries are replaced, not repaired, wasting resources. NOWOS tackles this head-on, transforming the linear ‘replace’ model into a circular ‘repair and reuse’ economy.
As an established market leader since 2020, our industrial-scale repair processes and integrated Digital Battery Passport system offer a proven solution. The TRL-9 project MOBIRE, in partnership with Dott, successfully validates our model’s effectiveness and scalability.
We add value by:
- Extending battery life & cutting operational costs
- Reducing waste & reliance on critical raw materials
- Ensuring compliance with EU Battery Regulations
We are expanding capacity with the new hub in Poland, enabling the processing of 200,000 batteries/year. MOBIRE unlocks advanced physical repair integrated with transparent digital tracking for unparalleled performance & compliance.
We seek new commercial partners (micromobility, logistics, ESS, machinery, vehicle/battery OEMs) to scale this proven circular solution across Europe.
Project MOBIRE builds on prior collaboration between NOWOS and Dott to establish scalable battery repair processes and a digital Battery Passport system. Our goal: extend micromobility battery lifespans, reduce repair costs by 30%, and ensure EU Battery Directive compliance.
Challenge: Europe’s 750,000 shared micromobility vehicles generate 150-225k annual battery repairs. Operators face high costs and compliance issues. MOBIRE introduces advanced repair protocols and a Battery Passport, enabling cost-effective, scalable solutions while ensuring full regulatory compliance and reducing waste.
We chose Poland as the location of a new hub to validate protocols and integrate the Battery Passport with Dott’s fleet, within MOBIRE deliverables. In this pilot, we aim to repair 500+ batteries, track 1,000 digitally, and cut replacement costs by 30%. This hub boosts Nowos’s capacity up to 200k batteries/year.
MOBIRE pioneers a TRL 9 scalable repair ecosystem, combining validated protocols with Battery Passport lifecycle tracking. It ensures longer battery lifespans, reduced downtime, improved sustainability, 20+ local new jobs, and compliance for micromobility operators.

R&D, Technology and Innovation aspects
Our focus is on market expansion and operational scaling.
Customer Acquisition (Poland & CEE): Target electric fleet operators, and battery/vehicle manufacturers in micromobility, material handling, industrial machinery, marine, home & garden, EVs, and BESS.
Team Expansion (Poland Hub): Recruit and train local battery technicians and operational staff.
Our scalability relies on a flexible workforce and standardized compliant processes. We maintain a core expert team, supplemented by temporary technicians to meet fluctuating project demands. This model is built on standardized repair protocol blueprints, ensuring consistent, high-quality service that can be rapidly scaled. This combination allows us to efficiently expand capacity in any hub (e.g., Poland) based on real-time customer needs.
Our model is highly replicable through a standardized blueprint. We’ve developed unified, high-quality digital (Battery Passport) and physical (repair hub design, e.g., in Poland) infrastructure. This blueprint includes documented repair protocols, training modules, and operational guidelines, allowing efficient setup of new facilities and rapid onboarding of local teams. Strong OEM partnerships further enable seamless integration and asset sharing in new markets.
NOWOS embodies a sustainable business model by delivering value across all stakeholders:
Sustainable Value Proposition: We offer customers cost savings, increased overall battery health rates, compliance, and enhanced ESG through extended battery life and waste reduction. For the environment and society, we avoid critical raw material mining and avoid CO2 emissions, fostering circularity.
Value Creation & Delivery: Our industrial-scale repair/remanufacturing, powered by the data from Digital Battery Passport, creates this value. We deliver via efficient repair hubs (e.g., Poland), skilled technicians, and transparent data to better inform customers.
Value Capture & Capital Regeneration: Economic value from service fees is captured while regenerating natural capital (reduced material consumption/waste) and social capital (green jobs, trust). Our model influences partner supply chains and supports broader EU sustainability goals, adding value to customers, the environment, and society.
