Result description

Fairspace is developed and improved in the framework of the FNS Cloud project. The application will be available under an open-source licence, the IP owner is The Hyve. Due to stricter guidelines around data management and secondary use of research data, such as the FAIR principles (findable, accessible, interoperable, and reusable), there is a big market for this application, including all organisations that produce, collect, store, manage and process data. Since Fairspace is agnostic to data domain, type and format, the application can be exploited for a wide range of projects.

Current stage description

At this stage the the application will be available under an open-source licence. TheHyve will promote the use of this FAIRSPACE version in other R&D projects around food managamenet and microbiome data to explore new strategies to further develop the app and provide support its reusability

This ICT tool makes a substantial contribution to the incorporation of FAIR principles in both research and pharmaceutical contexts. Fairspace empowers researchers by enabling them to annotate their data collections with pertinent metadata properties and establish links between the data and associated metadata entities such as subjects, samples, and projects. This facilitates seamless retrieval and querying of data for individual researchers and enhances the discoverability and searchability of the data for others. Fairspace additionally guarantees unique identifiers for all metadata entities and conducts checks for metadata consistency and validity during data entry.
