Result description
In the MEMPHYS project Borit expanded its knowledge and experience on forming of thin metal plates. For the first time, thin metal bipolar plates were evaluated for their suitability for purification and compression applications in an electrochemical hydrogen compression/purification stack. Many investigations were carried out to find the best material and coating suitable for different requirements in flow fields. Then the restrictions of the flow field forming were determined based on produced plates that where tested on their resistance.
The most appropriate option for material, coating and flow field was then produced and put to many tests. These tests have shown that the thin plates are suitable for a pressure up to 16 bar and that they are very good usable for the electrochemical hydrogen purification.
