EDRASIS C. Psalidas SA is a public construction company. The Ground-Med GSHP system covers base heating and cooling load of EDRASIS headquarters, a building of 2860 m2.
The heat pump used is a prototype of superior efficiency with 15% improved COP developed by OCHSNER WP. It is water side reversible by 4 three-way valves, allowing operation for active heating, active cooling or passive cooling and counter-current operation at both evaporator and condenser in all modes, resulting in maximum SPF.
External loop comprises 12 BHEs, of double-U type, 110 m deep each, using water as heat transfer fluid. Grouting comprises bentonitic cement above groundwater level and graded sand or gravel below water level. In heating operation the GSHP supplies only the fan coil units on a continuous basis. The total heating load of the fan coils is 65 kW. Whenever the heating demand exceeds 55 kW, existing boiler is turned on automatically by the BMS. In cooling operation the GSHP works on a continuous basis connected to the entire system (AHUs and FCUs) up to the its maximum capacity. When the system requires more cooling, existing chiller is turned on automatically by the BMS.
