Result description
The Augmented Reality (AR) tools that support on-site road workers and improve the management of maintenance related work. The operator is aware of the real world, augmented with information visualization. Visualized models and text are overlaid in the real world through AR glasses or a tablet. This communication display will provide workers with step-by-step instructions on maintenance operations, as well as with road information from V2X communications, and enhance the workers’ awareness of the surrounding environment. The tablet AR interventions are 1) crack sealing, 2) cones placement/removal, 3) signal cleaning and laser-based paint removal. The AR headset interventions are signal installation and safety barriers installation. The robot control interfaces provide the operator with the capability of interacting with the mobile robot platform and communicaiton between the central system and the operator is established via the AR interfaces, keeping the operator in the loop.
