Result description
The ROBOX project has worked towards the development of new robust enzymes to be used in industrial processes. The focus has been on oxidative enzymes and several of such biocatalysts have been developed to be used for selective oxidations for preparation of amongst others polymer building blocks, fragrances and flavors. Reactions that have been enables with the generated enzymes are: alcohol oxidations, Baeyer-Villiger oxidations, sulfoxidations and hydroxylations. The approach of the project has been illustrated in several video’s (Youtube: search for ROBOX & enzyme)
The generated enzymes can be used in various applications due to their robustness.
Addressing target audiences and expressing needs
- Collaboration
Organisations that will adopt the generated enzymes or methods to perform enzyme engineering (such as FRESCO). Enzymes can be provided and where needed collaborations may be needed to tune the enzyme for a specific application.
- Research and Technology Organisations
R&D, Technology and Innovation aspects
The ROBOX-generated enzymes (Baeyer-Villiger monooxygenases, alcohol oxidases, alcohol dehydrogenases, P450 monooxygenases, peroxygenases) can be used in industrial processes as has been demonstrated within the ROBOX project.
