We require public grants to advance our innovative laser ablation system from its current Technology Readiness Level (TRL) 3 to a market-ready solution. These funds are essential to support the refinement, clinical validation, and regulatory approval processes necessary to bring this life-saving technology to healthcare providers and attract private investments. With public investment, we can bridge the gap between early-stage development and widespread clinical use, ultimately improving patient outcomes and reducing the need for invasive surgeries.

The LEILA technology is at TRL 3, with an early-stage prototype validated in a lab setting. We seek public funding to advance R&D, focusing on refining the device, conducting preclinical testing, and preparing for clinical trials. We will then incorporate the spin off planned in our detailed exploitation strategy co-developed between the technology team (PoliMi) and business team (Day One)

The LEILA project’s scalable business model centers on the commercialization of a laser ablation system for tumor treatment. The device will be sold through a B2B model targeting hospitals, clinics, and specialized cancer treatment centers. The primary revenue stream will come from the sale of disposable components required for each procedure, ensuring recurring income with every use. By providing the core system on a consignment basis, LEILA reduces adoption barriers for healthcare providers while securing long-term relationships through consumable sales.

To scale, the business will focus on high-demand markets such as Europe and the U.S., initially targeting liver and breast cancer treatments. Over time, the model can expand to address other tumor types and minimally invasive procedures, leveraging its adaptable platform. Additionally, partnerships with distributors and medical device manufacturers will accelerate market penetration and ensure global reach.

Standard manufacturing procedures are needed to manufacture our product and consumables. Commercially available components have been already selected so the results are highly replicable and the production will be able to scale up following market’s demand.
