Fraunhofer FEP performs optical thin film stack modelling for
- designing a thin film stack towards a target transmission or reflection spectrum or color appearance
- elaborating optical properties of thin film stacks on various substrates (plastic, metal, glass) including the calculation of e.g.:
- transmission, reflection and absorption spectra,
- color and its angular dependence and color rendering index
- weighted transmission towards, e.g. the human eye response or absorption behavior of solar cells
Our optical design tools support single and multi layer systems and graded layers.
Applications include e.g.:
- Antireflection coatings or highly reflective systems
- optical filter: low-pass, high-pass, band-pass
- low-e and heat mirror coatings
- optimized encapsulation films and light-incoupling to solar cells
- decorative surfaces with specific color appeareance
- fraud protection and security labels
- tuning color rendering and appearance in smart windows
