Result description
Flooding simulations for the Dniestr barrier beach in Ukraine under storm conditions and for present and climate change scenarios
The results are focused on the flooding impacts affecting the Dniestr barrier beach under storm conditions, taking into account both current and projected scenarios driven by future climate change. Through these comprehensive simulations, we are able to clearly identify the most vulnerable sectors of the barrier beach, particularly areas that are densely populated and therefore face an escalating risk of severe flooding and associated damages. These findings provide valuable information that can assist policymakers, local stakeholders, and emergency management authorities in prioritizing intervention measures, implementing effective mitigation strategies, and planning long-term adaptation actions aimed at minimizing potential future consequences. To facilitate understanding and enhance accessibility, the results have been integrated into a user-friendly webvisor platform. This visualization tool allows users to explore the simulated scenarios interactively, providing clear, intuitive, and visually engaging representations of the projected flooding effects, thereby supporting informed decision-making processes.
