Result description
We developed a wireless monitoring system for PV plants that uses Narrowband IoT (NB-IoT) and 5G to connect field sensors—such as energy meters, string monitors, and weather stations—without the need for wired infrastructure. The system enables real-time, low-latency data transmission, low power consumption for stand-alone sensors, and easy deployment, even in remote or complex installations. It ensures reliable performance, reduces electromagnetic interference, and supports remote diagnostics, drone integration, and modular scalability for both permanent and temporary setups.
Our result is a wireless sensor network for photovoltaic (PV) monitoring, using cutting-edge Narrowband IoT and 5G technologies. It enables real-time, low-power, cable-free data collection from PV installations—reducing costs, improving safety, and enabling faster diagnostics and smarter energy management.
This innovation adds value by overcoming limitations of traditional wired systems and opening new possibilities for scalable, flexible, and efficient PV monitoring.
