Result description
Rare earth doped nanoparticles show the longest optical and spin quantum state lifetimes among nanoscale solid state systems. This opens the way to new hybrid quantum devices that exploit light-matter interactions: single ion quantum memories and processors, ultra-sensitive quantum force sensors, and graphene based quantum optoelectronics.
