Result description
The remote inspection solution for physical infrastructure uses satellite imagery and UAVs to enable automated, remote inspections. It uses advanced AI to reduce the need to watch direct video feeds and reduce the alert fatigue of the personnel and notifies only about potential faults. This reduces labor costs and enhances safety in hard-to-reach or hazardous environments. It also enables prioritization of maintenance groups/personnel to redistribute work in cases of personnel unavailability and also in cases of potential failures in other critical systems.
Manual inspections are labor-intensive, costly, and often hazardous, especially in remote or pandemic-affected areas where personnel availability is limited or costly to operate in (e.g. helicopter transfer to the location, on-foot inspection duration over difficult terrain). The Remote Infrastructure Inspection (RII) solution introduces a data-driven remote inspection tool for physical infrastructure. It combines satellite images, UAV sensor inputs, and machine learning algorithms for anomaly detection. This two-stage, multi-modal approach (satellite imagery, drone video, IR camera, LIDAR, …) ensures better coverage and timely detection of anomalies, enhancing overall infrastructure resilience. The tool leverages AI and ML algorithms for its inspection processes. Additionally, RII goes beyond conventional inspection methods by incorporating Visual Large Language Models (V-LLM), further enhancing its capabilities. These algorithms and models enable RII to process multitude of different inspection cases efficiently and accurately, ensuring timely detection of anomalies and potential risks in infrastructure.
Addressing target audiences and expressing needs
- Grants and Subsidies
In depth collaboration with Critical Infrastructure operators, Drone companies and any other early adopters that would benefit from remote inspection.
- Public or private funding institutions
- EU and Member State Policy-makers
R&D, Technology and Innovation aspects
- The marketing strategy will encompass direct sales and participation in conferences, online marketing, fairs, and events. Participation in industry events and online platforms.
- Most important channel are the CIs that are currently in the SUNRISE Consortium. Some of them want to adopt the production version of the tool. We expect to generate leads based on the successful adoption of the current CIs.
The business model offers flexibility in how the service is provided based on factors like costs and the availability of operating drones for inspections. There are different service bundles available depending on the costs involved.
