Customers’ data and IP are better protected from attacks. This permits the customers to execute their applications not only in public clouds but also improve the security of their applications in distributed settings (e.g., IoT). Moreover, a customer could in principle also verify that its data, code, and computation are not leaked – if all used software would be open source. It also enables multi-stakeholders to perform data analytics or machine learning computations without trusting each other.
