Result description
Energy‑efficient user interfaces are essential in smart‑home environments for displaying personalized information and managing connected devices. The SmartMirror automatically recognizes each user and can be operated through natural voice commands or intuitive hand‑gesture control. Delivering this capability within a tight power budget demands a heterogeneous architecture that couples general‑purpose processing with dedicated DNN accelerators. The eProcessor SmartMirror demonstrator embodies this approach, integrating the eProcessor ASIC’s vector engines and specialized hardware accelerators into a single, cohesive platform.
In smart‑home settings, user interfaces must be power‑frugal while still presenting personalized information and controlling connected devices. The SmartMirror instantly recognizes each user and responds to either natural voice commands or intuitive hand gestures. Meeting these capabilities within a tight energy envelope requires a heterogeneous architecture that combines general‑purpose cores with dedicated DNN accelerators. The eProcessor SmartMirror demonstrator showcases this strategy, melding the eProcessor ASIC’s vector engines with its purpose‑built hardware accelerators in one seamless platform.

We aim to create solutions that are smarter, more affordable, and easier for everyone to use. Achieving this within strict power constraints requires a heterogeneous architecture that blends general‑purpose processors with specialized DNN accelerators. Consequently, we are seeking breakthroughs in both machine‑learning models and the accelerators that run them.

R&D, Technology and Innovation aspects
A prototype is already in place; our upcoming priorities are to optimize performance, enhance stability, and maximize the efficiency of the eProcessor ASIC accelerators.
This is an early state for a product, but all hardware used for the Smart Mirror is COTS available or can be manufactured by the parties involved in the use case.
