Selected projects are expected to start after the contracting phase, estimated for January 1st, 2027.
Type of Beneficiary
Open Call #2 - External pilots Track targets European technology adopters (use case providers) who, in collaboration with technology developers, providers, or integrators, will pilot new solutions for one of the specified challenges. These pilots must integrate one tool from the JARVIS framework, as described in the guidelines for applicants, to enhance the overall value of their proposed solution.
Each proposal must involve a minimum consortium of two entities:
- Lead Partner: Technology Developer (Mandatory): Must be a technology-developing startup or SME. Acts as the primary innovator, lead developer, and main technology exploiter. In a two-partner consortium, this entity may also assume the role of Technology Integrator.
- Partner 2: Use Case Provider (Mandatory): An industrial company or infrastructure owner that provides the operational environment where the solution will be tested and validated. Defines the use case, operational requirements, and participates in real-world validation as the end user and solution adopter.
- Partner 3: Technology Integrator (Optional): Additional startup, SME, or Research and Technology Organisation (RTO) responsible for supporting the integration of JARVIS components into the pilot environment and ensuring seamless system deployment.
Eligibility
- The applicants should be legal entities established and based in one of the EU Member States or a Horizon Europe Associated country as defined in Horizon Europe rules for participation.
- The applicants should be either industry party or infrastracture owners interested in piloting the developed tools or an SME/startup (mandatory lead), optionally with an RTO partner or a research organisation providing technology/ expertise, (eligible only if there is already one technology adopter and one SME technology provider in the consortium).
- The applicants should be able to prove their financial stability and capacity and pass any financial check required by the European Commission, including financial capacity assessment.
- SMEs and Start-ups will be considered eligible only in the case that they have been established at least one year before the submission of the application.
- The applicants should not have been convicted for fraudulent behaviors, other financial irregularities, unethical or illegal business practices.

Task description
The External Pilots OC2 track aims to validate innovative AI-enabled solutions in real industrial environments (TRL7) and validate the JARVIS modules in new application domains. Applicants are invited to submit proposals addressing one of the following challenges:
- Worker-Centric Collaborative Robotics Applications for Physically Demanding Tasks in Manufacturing Environments
- Adaptive Human–Robot Interaction in Complex Manufacturing Processes
- Remote Human-Robot Interaction for Inspection and Maintenance of Plants, Infrastructure Areas and Linear Infrastructure
- Inspection and Maintenance of Industrial and Public Sector Assets and Equipment
- Human–Robot Interaction in Emerging and Strategic Domains
Selected projects are expected to:
- Design and implement a pilot solution addressing one of the five JARVIS challenges
- Integrate one JARVIS module into their system via ROS2-compatible interfaces
- Deploy and validate the solution in a real operational environment provided by the Use Case Provider
- Demonstrate the added value of JARVIS technologies in improving existing processes, such as productivity, flexibility, safety, or human-robot collaboration
The work will be structured in three Sprints:
- Sprint 1 – Design: ·Detailed definition of the system architecture, integration approach with the selected JARVIS module, demonstration scenarios, validation strategy, and performance indicators.
- Sprint 2 – Development & Deployment: Development of the solution and initial deployment in the pilot environment
- Sprint 3 – Integration & Validation: Full integration, testing, and validation in real conditions
Applicants are expected to deliver:
- A functional pilot demonstrating the proposed solution (TRL7)
- Validation results based on defined KPIs
- Documentation of integration with JARVIS components
- A clear pathway for further exploitation and scalability
All solutions must be compatible with the JARVIS objectives and contribute to demonstrating its applicability in new industrial contexts.
