Open Calls of Open Inovation Test Beds (OITB): Open Innovation Test Beds are thematic innovation networks that offer bundled services and technology packages to support small and medium enterprises (SME) and industry in developing new products faster and more efficient. Some of them have recently launched open calls, in which you may apply for subsidized access to the technical and innovation services of the OITB with a budget between 60 … 120 k€.

How does it work: you need to submit a short proposal describing your idea and the required services to advance with your product development. If your project is selected by the OITB, you will sign a joint implementation agreement with the OITB members and they will deliver to you their services without any payment needed. The effort for the services is supported by the European Commission! Here is a small selection of OITB who have currently an active open call:

• Safe-n-MedTech: supports developments for nano-enabled medical devices. Deadline 21 March 2022
• FlexFunction2Sustain: supports innovations for sustainable packaging, flexible electronics, and nano-enabled ecofriendly plastics and paper products. Deadline 29 July 2022
• NewSkin: provides services to manufacture and characterise a wide range of nano-enabled products. Deadline 30 June 2022
• NextGenMicrofluidics: is the best address for you if you are working on foil based microfluidic chips (lab-on-a-foil systems) or microfluidic composite devices with foil based components. Submission is continuously open.

Besides the OITB, Open Access Pilot Lines offer pilot production services and Digital Innovation Hubs support European SME with digital technologies. The PHABULOµS pilot line for free-form micro-optics has just launched its open call for pilot projects delivering subsidized pilot manufacturing services for microstructured surfaces on wafer, sheet and roll substrates for a variety of optical applications.
