Analysis of recycled polymers
Fraunhofer IVV offers various physicochemical analysis methods for polymers in its portfolio:
- Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) to determine the purity
- Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) to determine the thermal properties
- Oxidation induction time (OIT) to determine thermal stability
- Gel permeation chromatography (GPC) to determine the molecular weight distribution
- Melt-flow rate analysis (MFR) to determine the melt viscosity
- X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy (XRF) to determine content of metals and minerals
Deliverables
Input needed from customer
Depending on the method and the scope of the analysis 5 – 100 g of polymer are required
Specifications and Deliverables
The results of each analysis will be shared with the customer in a detailed report
Value Proposition
Physicochemical quality evaluation of recycled polymers based on small sample quantities prior to time-consuming mechanical testing
